Moving Supplies To Make Your Move Easy
Getting moved into and out of a house can be a hassle, especially when larger items such as refrigerators, pianos and dining room sets must be moved. It’s important to use the proper equipment to keep the movers and your furniture safe.
Pads & Dollies
Professional movers are concerned about protecting your possessions. We use high-quality pads and dollies to ensure the safe transporting of your things. By making the moving process easier, less wear and tear is inflicted on the things being moved.
Other Moving Tools That We Use
For example, moving a dresser on a dolly instead of sliding it across the floor keeps the bottom and sides from becoming worn and from scratching flooring surfaces.
Common moving supplies include the aforementioned moving dollies. Dollies are small padded platforms that have a few heavy-duty wheels on the bottom. A large appliance or piece of furniture is set on top and kept balanced by movers. The movers roll the dolly and furniture where it needs to go.
Hand trucks, sometimes confusingly also called dollies, consist of two wheels, a flat plate that rests on the ground and a tall handle. The flat plate is slid underneath a pile of boxes, and the mover tips the whole hand truck back so that the sides of the boxes are now resting on the handle. This allows the movers to move boxes or heavier items much faster and more safely than carrying boxes by hand.
Strap Forklifts
Finally, strap forklifts are sometimes used. A relatively new invention, these straps run over the forearms of the movers, and under the item to be moved. By transferring the weight of the object to the forearm and elbow a lot more weight can be lifted. Another benefit of strap forklifts is that the mover’s hands are left free, and can be used to stabilize the load being carried.
